This 1965 Ford Mustang fastback was purchased in 2005 as a project, and subsequent work included a repaint in blue with white stripes, an overhaul of the black interior, and the installation of an overbored 351ci Windsor V8 and a Tremec five-speed manual transmission.

Other equipment includes staggered Boyd Coddington wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, a Heidts Mustang II front end, rack-and-pinion steering, a dual-scoop hood, an R-style front valance, a roll bar, aftermarket front seats, an aftermarket stereo, and a folding rear seat. The project was completed in 2017.

The factory 289ci V8 was replaced with a 351ci Windsor V8 that was rebuilt by Gray’s Automotive Machine Shop with a .030″ overbore and 9.5:1 compression.

Additional components include a 600-cfm Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold, JBA exhaust headers, Flowmaster mufflers, a seven-quart Canton oil pan, Ford Racing valve covers, and a March pulley kit.

The oil was changed in preparation for sale.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a five-speed Tremec TKO-500 manual transmission with a Centerforce clutch assembly and a JMC hydraulic clutch setup.

A nodular Ford 9″ rear axle was built with 3.70:1 gears, and Scott Drake traction-control bars have been added.

Subframe connectors have been welded in, and the underbody was etch-primed before being coated.

The radiator support, both quarter panels, and trunk floor were replaced due to rust, and the front-right apron was also replaced due to corrosion from battery acid.

The drip rails were shaved before the car was refinished in Viper Blue Pearl.

White top stripes were painted on and side stripe decals with “G.T. 351W” scripts were then added, and features include a dual-scoop hood with pins, an R-style front valance without a bumper, louvered quarter vents, a fiberglass rear bumper, and dual exhaust outlets exiting through the rear valance.

Staggered 17″ front and 18″ rear Boyd Coddington Magneato wheels are mounted with 235/45 front and 275/35 rear Nitto NT555 tires.

The front shock towers were removed, and a Heidts Mustang II suspension and powered rack-and-pinion steering system are installed.

Four-wheel disc brakes utilize 11″ rotors at each corner.

The interior features a body-color dashboard, doors, and roll bar as well as bolstered SCAT Procar front seats with black upholstery over matching carpets and trim.

The parking brake lever has been relocated between the seats, and a fire extinguisher is mounted on the center tunnel.

An aftermarket stereo with USB connectivity is installed in place of the factory unit and is connected to 6″ speakers in the kick panels.

Other equipment includes a folding rear seat, a Grant steering wheel, Scott Drake latch-style lap belts, GT350-branded floor mats, and a Carroll Shelby signature on the glovebox.

The wiring harnesses have been replaced, and the battery was relocated to the trunk.

The metallic gauge cluster houses GT-style instrumentation with white dials, including a circular 140-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges.

A Sunpro tachometer with an adjustable redline is mounted to the adjustable Flaming River steering column.

The five-digit odometer shows just under 500 miles and reflects the mileage driven since completion of the project in 2017.
