This 1966 Volkswagen Type 2 is an eight-passenger, 21-window Deluxe Samba model that was built in October 1965 and delivered to New York.
The factory 1.5-liter engine was replaced with the current 1,600cc dual-port flat-four during the 2020 refurbishment work.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle.
The 21-window body was stripped in 2019, metalwork was completed, and it was refinished in Sea Blue with a Cumulus White upper body and roof.
The project was completed in 2020, and equipment includes Silver White bumpers, a Cumulus White soft roof insert, six hinged side windows, sliding door windows, and Safari-style pop-out windshield panels.
14″ steel wheels are finished in Silver White and wear polished stainless VW hubcaps along with 185/75 Hankook thin whitewall tires.
Braking is handled by four-wheel drums, and refurbishment work completed in 2020 included suspension and brake system overhauls.
The interior was refurbished and features Aero Papyrus white and Steel Blue upholstery, matching door and side panels, a white-painted dash, black carpets, and a white headliner.
Additional padding was added in the interior door and side panels during the refurbishment, and cobalt blue lap belts are installed up front.
The two-spoke steering wheel wears a gold Wolfsburg-crest horn button and frames an 80-mph VDO speedometer.
Additional instrumentation includes a VDO fuel-level gauge, and a VDO/Kienzle analog clock is mounted on the right side of the dash.
