This 1973 Porsche 911S Targa was acquired as a project in 2017 and was subsequently refurbished and modified.

Work included rebuilding the engine to 2.7-liters, overhauling the five-speed manual transaxle, retrimming the interior, refreshing the targa panel, replacing the dashboard, and repainting the body in its original Gemini Blue Metallic.

Equipment includes driving lights, sport seats, air conditioning, an auxiliary oil cooler, and 15″ Fuchs alloy wheels. Recent service in preparation for sale included a valve adjustment, an oil change, and a tune-up.

The numbers-matching flat-six was machined by Competition Engineering, rebuilt to 2.7-liters, and fitted with Bosch mechanical fuel injection in 2019. The rebuild included a “high-performance street valve job” at JB Racing Products as well as reconditioning the connecting rods, boring the cylinders, installing modified pistons, and replacing the distributor.

Recent service in preparation for sale included a valve adjustment, an oil and filter change, and a tune-up.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transaxle that was refurbished with new bearings and synchronizers during the refurbishment.

The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity lists the original color as Gemini Blue, shows a production date of March 1973, and lists the engine number as 6331504, which matches the number stamped into the engine casing. Manufacturer’s literature, the factory tool roll and jack, and refurbishment photos are included in the sale.

The body was stripped and media blasted prior to rust repair and a glass-out repaint in the original Gemini Blue Metallic (86).

Exterior features include driving lights, a brushed targa bar, and bright trim that was either re-chromed or re-anodized during the refurbishment process.

The targa top was rebuilt by Dave Brown in 2019.

Forged 15″ Fuchs alloy wheels are mounted with 185/70 Vredestein Sprint Classic tires, a matching spare is located in the front trunk.

Braking is from discs at all four corners.

The cabin features sport seats that have been re-trimmed in tan leather along with matching door panels and carpeting.

The dashboard is a replacement, and amenities include air conditioning and a Blaupunkt radio.

The four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts a central 8k rpm tachometer, a 150-mph speedometer, auxiliary gauges, and an analog clock.

The five-digit odometer registers 28k miles.
