In 2009 the 1.7-liter flat-four was rebuilt and the four-speed manual transaxle received a replacement clutch assembly, in 2016 the exterior was refinished in yellow.

The yellow bodywork is complemented by white-finished bumpers, and the wraparound front bumper features integrated steps with replacement rubber foot pads.

The Westfalia pop-up top have been refinished, and the windshield was replaced along with the weatherstripping.

A larger early-style VW emblem is positioned between the headlamps.

Black-finished 14″ steel wheels wear trim rings as well as VW-stamped hubcaps, and they are mounted with 185-width Thunderer Ranger R101 tires.

The brakes have been redone during the 2016 refurbishment.

The interior features bucket seats up front, which were re-covered in beige.

The matching door panels were also replaced, and a Gene Berg Enterprises T-handle shifter has been installed along with a Pioneer AM/FM/CD player.

VDO instrumentation includes a 90-mph speedometer, a fuel-level gauge, and warning lights.
