This 1971 Mercury Cyclone GT is one of 2,287 built for the model year. It is finished in yellow with black lower panels over Ginger houndstooth, and power comes from an overbored 351ci Cleveland V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Other features include a Holley carburetor, 15″ Centerline wheels, power-assisted front disc brakes, and an Alpine Bluetooth stereo.
The 351ci Cleveland V8 have been rebuilt with a .030″ overbore for a displacement of 357ci. Other modifications include Sealed Power hypereutectic pistons, Australian-market 2V cylinder heads, an Edelbrock intake manifold, an HEI distributor, an aftermarket camshaft, tubular exhaust headers, and DynoMax mufflers.
Work under current ownership included installing a custom-jetted four-barrel Holley carburetor with an electric choke, replacing rubber hoses and the spark plugs, flushing the coolant, and changing the oil.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission have been rebuilt and fitted with a shift kit and higher stall converter. The transmission fluid was changed in preparation for sale.
Service in preparation for sale included fluid changes and replacing the carburetor, vacuum hoses, radiator hoses, shocks, bushings, and master cylinder.
The car was delivered new in Medium Yellow Gold (E) and have been refinished in the early 1990s.
Polished 15″ Centerline wheels are mounted with 255/60 Goodyear Eagle RH white-letter tires. The car received power-assisted disc brakes from the factory. The brake master cylinder, rear wheel cylinders, and lower control arm bushings were replaced.
The car left the factory with bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in Medium Ginger Houndstooth cloth and vinyl upholstery. A Bluetooth Alpine stereo is installed in the glovebox, and the Blaupunkt Aspen SQR24 cassette player in the factory location is disconnected.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames instrumentation with green LED lighting that includes a horizontal 140-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges.
The five-digit odometer shows 91k miles.
