This 1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SE 3.5 cabriolet is one of approximately 1,230 examples produced between 1969 and 1971. Power is supplied by a 3.5-liter V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission, and the car is finished in Moss Green Metallic over a tan interior. Equipment includes a tan convertible top, 14″ steel wheels with covers, disc brakes, US-specification headlights, three-point front seat belts, power windows, a Becker AM/FM radio, and air conditioning. The power steering box assembly was replaced and the air conditioning system was serviced in March 2024.

The 3.5-liter M116 V8 features Bosch Jetronic fuel injection and was factory rated at 200 horsepower and 211 lb-ft of torque. An oil change was performed in preparation for sale.

A replacement four-speed automatic transmission was installed in 2011.

The car came finished from the factory in Moss Green Metallic (834) and was repainted during the refurbishment in 1990, at which time dents were repaired, the radiator support panel received body work, and a patch panel was welded in the rear valance. Equipment includes a tan soft top, a top boot, front vent windows, US-specification headlights, a “low-style” grille, and dual side mirrors.

The 14″ steel wheels feature bright covers with color-matched centers and are mounted with Cientra Plus Steel Belted tires measuring 205/70. The suspension includes an independent double-wishbone front setup with coil springs along with a rear single-joint swing axle. Stopping power is provided by power-assisted disc brakes at each corner, and the car is equipped with power steering. The steering box assembly was replaced in March 2024.

The cabin features individual front seats upholstered in tan, and wood trim accents the dash and A-pillars. Retractable three-point front seatbelts were installed under current ownership, and additional amenities include power windows, a dashboard-mounted clock, a Becker Europa AM/FM stereo, and air conditioning, which was recharged with R134a refrigerant and received replacement hoses in March 2024.

The two-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and fronts a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline, and auxiliary gauges.

The five-digit odometer shows 69k miles.
