This 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429 was built on September 16, 1969 finished in Grabber Blue over white Corinthian vinyl. Power is provided by a 429ci V8 equipped with a four-barrel Holley carburetor and mated to a four-speed close-ratio manual transmission. This example was equipped from the factory with Competition Suspension, front disc brakes, the Drag Pack, power brakes and steering, a 3.91 Traction-Lok rear end, and a tachometer.

Kar Kraft of Dearborn, Michigan was commissioned by Ford to modify Cobra Jet Mustangs with a larger 429ci V8 featuring “crescent” shaped combustion chambers. It came from the factory with a forged steel crankshaft, forged connecting rods, and solid lifters. Aluminum dry-deck cylinder heads are fitted along with an aluminum intake manifold and a four-barrel Holley 735-cfm carburetor.

The top-loader four-speed transmission sends power to a 9″ Traction-Lok rear end equipped with a 3.91:1 differential. The optional Competition Suspension includes front and rear anti-roll bars.

Just 500 Mustang SportsRoof models were built for the 1970 model year with this engine and transmission combination. This example was refinished in its factory Grabber Blue (J) in 2012 and is equipped with a factory front spoiler and a manually-controlled hood scoop painted matte black.

The 15″ Magnum 500 wheels are mounted with Goodyear Polyglas GT tires. The car was delivered new with power disc brakes up front, as well as power steering and the Drag Pack.

The cabin is equipped with high-back front bucket seats upholstered in white Corinthian vinyl with knitted inserts. The door sills feature the Ford logo, and the dark carpets are covered by rubber floor mats.

The car is equipped with an AM/FM radio and a factory Hurst shifter.

The dashboard is trimmed with wood veneer, and a Rim Blow steering wheel was a factory option. Instrumentation includes an optional 8k-rpm tachometer and electric clock. 48k miles are shown on the 5-digit odometer.
