This 1969 Chevrolet Corvette convertible was one of a reported 390 to be optioned with the L89 aluminum cylinder heads. Refurbishment work in the early 2000s included the installation of a replacement 427ci V8, rebuilds of the four-speed manual transmission and Positraction limited-slip differential, and overhauls of the suspension and brake systems as well as a repaint in gold and the reupholstering of the interior in black. Equipment includes a black convertible soft top, a removable hardtop, 15″ Rally wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, side-exit exhaust pipes, a heater, an AM/FM radio, chrome bumpers, and retractable headlights. The rocker arms, push rods, distributor rotor, spark plugs, and air pump were replaced in 2017.
The replacement 427ci V8 was rebuilt and installed in 2000 and features three Holley double-barrel carburetors. Work in 2017 and 2018 included replacing the rocker arms, push rods, distributor rotor, spark plugs, and air pump as well as carburetor and valve adjustments. The oil was changed in preparation for sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and an optional Positraction limited-slip differential that were both overhauled in 2000. A frame crossmember and X-member were also replaced in 2000. Underside components had rust removed and were repainted in December 2017.
The car left the factory finished in Riverside Gold (980), and the body was refinished in 2002. Features include a replacement black convertible soft top, a removable hardtop, retractable headlights, a driver-side mirror, and replacement side-exit exhaust outlets.
The 15″ Rally wheels wear chrome trim rings and center caps and are mounted with F70-series Goodyear Speedway tires. Braking is handled by power-assisted four-wheel discs. The car was optioned with the F41 Suspension Package, which added a seven-leaf rear spring, higher-rate front coil springs, special shock absorbers, and a rear sway bar. The braking and suspension systems were overhauled in the early 2000s.
The cabin was refurbished in 2002 and features two bucket seats reupholstered in black vinyl as well as color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Amenities include headrests, a heater, an AM/FM radio, an analog clock, and lap belts.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline, while auxiliary gauges for fuel level, battery charge, oil pressure, and coolant temperature are mounted in the center stack.
