This 1968 Shelby Mustang GT500 is one of 1,020 fastback examples produced for the model year and was completed on December 19, 1967, at Ford’s Metuchen, New Jersey, plant. It underwent a refurbishment in the 1990s, the car is finished in Wimbledon White with blue side stripes over Saddle vinyl upholstery, and power comes from a 428ci V8 paired with a C6 three-speed automatic transmission. Features include power-assisted steering and front disc brakes, 15″ 10-spoke wheels, a tilt-away steering column, shoulder harnesses, a Philco AM radio, and the Interior Décor and Visibility Group packages.

The GT500 was equipped from the factory with a ducktail rear spoiler, fender extensions, air scoops on the sail and quarter panels, and a fiberglass ventilated hood with a ram-air scoop. This example have been repainted in its factory Wimbledon White (M) during the 1990s refurbishment and features grille-mounted high-beam lamps, twist hood locks, blue bodyside stripes, a driver-side mirror, a quarter panel-mounted antenna, reverse lamps, and dual exhaust outlets exiting below the rear valance. A set of SEV Marchal fog light covers are included in the sale.

Cast-alloy 10-spoke wheels feature polished outer lips and are mounted with 215/65R15 Goodyear Eagle GT tires. Replacement front springs were installed in 2023. The car was equipped from the factory with power-assisted steering and front disc brakes.

The cabin features front bucket seats and a fold-down rear bench seat covered in Saddle vinyl. The Interior Décor Group added woodgrain trim to the dashboard, door panels, and center and overhead consoles, while the Visibility Group package included under-dashboard courtesy lights and illumination in the glovebox, trunk, and engine compartment, along with a glovebox lock. A roll bar with inertia-reel seatbelts was standard in Shelby cars.

The two-spoke steering wheel features a horn ring and woodgrain trim, and it is mounted on a tilt-away steering column ahead of a 140-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges.
