This 1966 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III was refurbished in the early 2000s, and work included repainting the bodywork in black and installing a five-speed Toyota manual transmission. The engine was also overhauled. Equipment includes a black soft top and top boot, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, front disc brakes, dual SU carburetors, driving lights, red leather upholstery, and a LeCarra wood-rimmed steering wheel.
The 2.9-liter inline-six was overhauled during the build and fitted with an aftermarket camshaft and valve springs as well as upgraded SU carburetors. A five-speed manual gearbox was installed using a Smitty conversion kit, a dual exhaust system is installed, and an exhaust hanger fixing point was repaired.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate notes the car’s production date as well as its factory colors, equipment, and identification numbers. Manufacturer’s literature is also included in the sale.
The car left the factory in Ivory White, and a refurbishment in the early 2000s included a bare-metal repaint in black. Exterior details include a black soft top and matching top boot, chrome bumpers with overriders, fender-mounted side mirrors, bright trim, driving lights, and a front badge bar.
Chrome 15″ wire wheels are secured with two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with 165-series Michelin XZX tires. Stopping power is provided by front disc and rear drum brakes, and the fluid was flushed in preparation for sale.
The 2+2 cockpit features front bucket seats and rear seat pads upholstered in red leather with matching carpets. Wood veneer trim accents the dashboard, and additional appointments include a heater, a locking glove compartment, a wooden gearshift knob, a dash-mounted rearview mirror, and Austin-Healey-branded rubber floor mats. Sound-deadening material was installed during the refurbishment.
The wood-rimmed LeCarra steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and supplemental gauges.
The five-digit odometer shows 54k miles, total mileage is unknown.
