This 1961 Chevrolet Corvette was delivered new to Shalla Chevrolet in Detroit, and was built with a Rochester mechanical fuel injection system along with heavy-duty drum brakes and suspension components. Following a refurbishment in the early 2000s that involved a repaint in red and a re-trim of the color-keyed interior, the car was awarded two NCRS Top Flight Awards as well as the Duntov Mark of Excellence Award. Power comes from a 283ci V8 linked to a four-speed manual transmission and a Positraction rear differential, and additional equipment includes a white soft top, a removable hardtop, 15” steel wheels, and a Wonder Bar AM radio.
The 283ci V8 features a Rochester mechanical fuel-injection system and Corvette-script valve covers. The fuel injection system was serviced and an oil change was performed in preparation for the sale.
The engine stamping is shown above. The CS suffix is consistent with a fuel-injected 315-horsepower 283ci V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a Positraction rear differential with 4.11:1 gearing.
The car was refinished in red during the aforementioned refurbishment. Exterior details include a white soft top, a body-color removable hardtop, quad headlights, split bumpers, and fuel-injection badges.
Body-color 15” steel wheels wear chrome hubcaps and are mounted with 6.70” Goodyear tires. Stopping power is provided by heavy-duty drum brakes with vented backing plates at all four corners.
The cabin features bucket seats trimmed in red vinyl with a color-coordinated dash top, door panels, and carpets. Chrome and brushed metal trim accents the dash and doors, and additional appointments include a Wonder Bar AM radio, a clock, and Corvette-branded floor mats.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 7k-rpm tachometer surrounded by a sweeping 160-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges.
The five-digit odometer shows 1,100 miles, and total mileage is unknown.
