1958 Chevrolet Impala Convertible Red underwent a two-year refurbishment in 1997. Power is provided by a 348ci V8 linked with a TH350 three-speed automatic transmission, and the car is finished in red over red and white vinyl upholstery. Equipment includes tri-power induction, a power-operated white convertible top, a red parade boot, power steering, power drum brakes, 14″ steel wheels, an electric clock, a digital cassette stereo, and a dual exhaust system. Work in preparation for sale consisted of replacing the power steering control valve and cylinder, rear brake hardware and shoes, and oil pan and valve cover gaskets.
The 348ci V8 have been rebuilt during the refurbishment and is topped with triple two-barrel carburetors and a finned air cleaner assembly. The oil pan and valve cover gaskets were replaced, and an oil change was performed in preparation for the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a TH350 three-speed automatic transmission. A replacement dual exhaust system with bullet-style mufflers has been installed.
The car left the factory finished in Snowcrest White (936) and was repainted in its current shade of red during the 1997 refurbishment. Details include a power-operated white convertible top, a red parade boot, a wrap-around windshield, quad headlights, and chrome body-side trim, bumpers, and faux vents as well as a rear alcove that houses triple taillights on each side.
The 14″ steel wheels wear spinner-style covers and are mounted with Coker Classic whitewall tires. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by power-assisted drums at all four corners. The rear brake hardware and shoes and the power steering control valve and cylinder were replaced in preparation for sale.
The cabin features front and rear bench seats trimmed in white vinyl with red pleated inserts joined by color-coordinated door panels. Equipment includes a heater and defroster, a lockable glovebox, an electric clock, a digital cassette stereo, and lap belts.
The two-spoke steering wheel has a chrome horn ring and frames a sweeping 120-mph speedometer and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature as well as a dash-mounted ignition switch. Two aftermarket gauges displaying oil pressure and battery voltage are located beneath the center of the dashboard.
The five-digit odometer shows 22k miles. Total mileage is unknown.
