This 1957 Cadillac Eldorado is the 917th of 1,800 Biarritz convertibles built for the model year. Restoration work was completed in 2014 and included a repaint in the factory color of Olympic White, as well as reupholstering the interior in the factory color of Sabre Blue and fitting a new Sabre Blue convertible top. The 365ci OHV V8 features twin four-barrel carburetors and is paired with a three-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission, and additional features include power steering, power brakes, a signal-seeking radio, power windows, and a six-way power front seat.
The 365ci V8 features optional twin Carter four-barrel carburetors and had a factory-rated output of 325 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque.
An electric fuel pump was added under the frame during the restoration, and a gel-cell battery with a “tar top” cover was also fitted.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a Hydra-Matic automatic transmission.
The suspension incorporates a coil-spring independent front setup and a leaf-spring solid-axle rear, while tubular shock absorbers are utilized all around.
Work performed since the restoration included replacing a leaking rear outer axle seal, fitting a new brake master cylinder top gasket, and repairing a fitting on the steering gearbox.
Styling updates for the 1957 Eldorado included a rounded, downswept rear contour with shark-style tail fins and sculpted stainless steel beauty panels blended into split rear bumpers.
A new front bumper design was shared across the Cadillac lineup and featured rubber-tipped, bullet-style guards and low-set parking lamps.
This car was disassembled during the 2010-2014 restoration, including removal of the body from the car’s X-shaped frame.
The lacquer repaint is in the original shade of Olympic White (90) and the restoration was guided by the Cadillac & LaSalle Club Authenticity Manual.
A new convertible top in the original shade of Sabre Blue was also installed.
Chrome 15” sabre-spoke wheels feature steel rims with alloy centers and Cadillac-branded center caps.
BFGoodrich Silvertown whitewall tires are mounted at each corner as well as on a matching spare mounted in the trunk.
A sixth Sabre wheel is included in the sale. Four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes with vacuum assistance were standard equipment, and the system has been updated with DOT 5 silicone fluid.
The interior was reupholstered during the restoration with Sabre Blue buffalo-grain leather over the front and rear bench seats.
Matching upholstery covers the door panels and dash, and the carpeting and rubber floor mats are color keyed.
The front seat is six-way power adjustable, and additional amenities include power windows and EZ-Eye tinted glass.
An Autronic eye headlamp dimmer is retained on the dash, but the headlights have been converted to dim via a foot-operated switch.
A signal-seeking AM radio and a drum-style clock are situated at the center of the dash.
A color-keyed two-spoke steering wheel frames a horizontal-sweep, 120-mph speedometer flanked by coolant temperature and fuel level gauges.
The five-digit odometer shows 60k miles, 300 of which have been added since the restoration.
