This 1956 Chevrolet 3100 Cameo pickup is one of 1,452 examples produced for the model year and is finished in red and white over matching upholstery and powered by a 265ci V8 linked to a three-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes 15″ steel wheels with center caps, a wood bed floor, a wraparound windshield and rear window, chrome trim, fiberglass bedsides, dual exhaust outlets, a retro-style digital stereo, and a Power Pack four-barrel carburetor, intake manifold, camshaft, and cylinder heads. Subsequently underwent a three-year refurbishment. Work consisted of rust repairs, stripping and repainting the body and chassis, rebuilding the engine and transmission, overhauling the brakes, reupholstering the interior, and replacing suspension, interior, and exterior components.
The 265ci V8 have been rebuilt and features a Power Pack four-barrel carburetor, intake manifold, camshaft, and cylinder heads as well as an orange-finished intake manifold, “ram’s horn”-style exhaust manifolds, and chrome Chevrolet-script valve covers. Additional service under current ownership included rebuilding the carburetor and replacing the starter, radiator, fuel tank and lines, hoses, belts, and ground straps. An oil change was performed in preparation for sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed manual transmission. Service during the refurbishment included rebuilding the transmission and replacing the clutch and throwout bearing. An aftermarket dual exhaust system has been installed.
Cameo pickups were equipped with molded fiberglass outer bedsides and outer tailgate skins. This example was repainted in red and white during the refurbishment, and additional exterior details include an oak bed floor, a roof-mounted sun visor, chrome trim and taillamp surrounds, a fiberglass concealed spare tire carrier behind the bumper, a wraparound windshield and big rear window, and dual exhaust outlets. The body was stripped and rust repairs were performed prior to the body being painted. Work consist of replacing the chrome grille, glass, vent windows, door glass, seals, polished and chrome trim, mirrors, front and rear bumpers, bed bolts, tailgate cables, fender spools, door handles, and exterior lights.
Red 15″ wheels wear chrome center caps and are mounted with Goodyear Wrangler Radial tires. Braking is handled by drums at all four corners. Work during the refurbishment included replacing the master cylinder, drum brakes, leaf springs, brake lines, brake cables, ball joints, and shock absorbers.
The bench seat and door panels are trimmed in white vinyl with red patterned cloth inserts. The sheet metal surfaces are finished to match the exterior, and equipment includes a heater and defroster, chrome hardware and knobs, aftermarket kick panel speakers, and a retro-style digital stereo. The seats were reupholstered and the interior door and dashboard hardware, headliner, wiring harness, carpeting, and door seals have been replaced.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 100-mph speedometer and gauges for coolant temperature, amperage, oil pressure, and fuel level. The fuel sending unit and instrument cluster was replaced.
The five-digit odometer shows 13 miles. True chassis mileage is unknown.
