This Chevrolet Coupe street rod was refurbished and modified with work consisting of modifying and painting the body in red, trimming the interior in beige leather, and installing a Fatman Fabrications chassis, a 355ci V8, a Tremec five-speed manual transmission, and a 10-bolt rear axle. Features include a stainless-steel grille, custom headlamps, billet mirrors, shaved door handles, smoothed running boards, flush-mount taillights, power rack-and-pinion steering, power-assisted Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes, and 17″ and 18″ Boyd Coddington Crown Jewel wheels as well as a Hurst T-handle shifter, remote keyless entry, air conditioning, cruise control, a pop-out Eclipse DVD infotainment system, and power windows.
The leather interior treatment carries through to the trunk compartment. A power-operated trunk release has been fitted, and an Alpine amplifier and a Deka battery are mounted in the rear cargo area.
The 355ci V8 was installed, and features an Edelbrock intake manifold and four-barrel carburetor, a polished serpentine drive system, a body-color intake cover, “38 Special” branded valve covers, tubular exhaust headers, and stainless steel coolant flex hoses. The engine was tuned by Lingenfelter Performance Engineering.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Tremec five-speed manual transmission and a 10-bolt rear axle. A custom stainless steel dual exhaust system has been installed.
The steel 1938-style body is finished in red and features a stainless steel grille, custom headlamps, billet mirrors, shaved door and trunk handles, smoothed running boards, vertical flush-mount LED taillamps, and Grand Prix GTP-style exhaust finishers. A Lingenfelter windshield banner and side vinyl decals have been applied.
The 17″ front and 18″ rear Boyd Coddington Crown Jewel wheels are mounted with Sumitomo HTR ZII tires measuring 225/45 and 255/45, respectively. The car has been fitted with a color-keyed Fatman Fabrications boxed-frame chassis with an independent front suspension, power rack-and-pinion steering, polished tubular front control arms, and a parallel leaf spring rear suspension with an anti-sway bar. Braking is handled by power-assisted polished Wilwood calipers over drilled and slotted rotors.
The cabin features low-back bucket seats trimmed in beige leather upholstery joined by a matching dashboard, headliner, center console, rear cargo area, and door panels. Interior details include Vintage Air climate control, cruise control, a Hurst T-handle shifter, remote keyless entry, an Eclipse pop-out infotainment system, power windows, and aluminum pedals, vents, and knobs. “’38 Special” logos are embroidered in the seat backs and floor mats and accompanied by a matching aluminum dash badge.
The leather-wrapped banjo wire steering wheel is mounted to a tilting column and frames a Classic Instruments 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and a multifunction gauge.
The six-digit mechanical odometer shows 4k miles, total mileage is unknown.
