This 1932 Ford roadster is a highboy hot rod that features a steel body mounted on a boxed frame. Power is provided by a 455ci Pontiac V8 equipped with 4X heads, an Edelbrock intake manifold, and a four-barrel carburetor. The engine is backed by a TH350 automatic transmission, and the car is also equipped with a dropped front axle, Oldsmobile rear end, 16″ wire wheels, Lincoln front brakes, sprint-car-style steering, a V windshield, and a louvered trunk lid. Interior appointments include a ’31 Cadillac dashboard, Stewart-Warner instrumentation, a floor shifter, and an emergency brake incorporated into the “clutch” pedal.
The 455ci V8 is a 1972 Pontiac unit and is equipped with a mild camshaft and 4X cylinder heads. The engine breathes through an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold and a 650CFM AVS2 carburetor with an automatic choke. A finned air cleaner lid and valve covers have been installed, and tubular four-into-one headers flow into dual Flowmaster mufflers.
The frame has been boxed, and power is sent to the rear wheels through a TH350 three-speed automatic transmission and a ’57 Oldsmobile rear axle. A concealed transmission cooler has been added, and the fluid was replaced in preparaton for sale.
The car was turned into a hot rod, and the door skins were replaced and the quarter panel patched before it was repainted in blue. A custom V-shaped windshield has been added along with a louvered trunk lid. Stainless-steel headlight assemblies with integrated LED turn signals were installed.
The 16″ wire wheels were powder coated black in 2022 and wear Cragar-branded hubcaps, stainless-steel beauty rings, and staggered-width Firestone Deluxe Champion tires. The dropped front axle has been drilled and features a transverse leaf spring with ’40 Ford split wishbones. The steering box is said to be from a ’56 Ford and features a custom, external sprint-car-style steering arm. Braking is provided by drums all around, including Lincoln units up front.
The rear bulkhead has been tucked under the bodywork to increase cabin legroom, and the bench seat was reupholstered in black vinyl.
The gear selector lever is sourced from a 1940 Ford and is topped with an 8-ball knob. The left “clutch” pedal engages the emergency brake and has a concealed release. A storage shelf under the dash has been fabricated from a 1956 California license plate, and a knob on the dash operates the horn. The door panels are retained by riveted trim, and damage is visible on the upholstery around the interior handles.
A ’31 Cadillac dashboard was welded and is accented with brushed aluminum panels. Stewart-Warner instrumentation consists of a 160-mph speedometer flanked by auxiliary gauges.
The five-digit odometer shows 2,500 miles, total mileage is unknown.
