This Buick GSX is one of approximately 400 optioned with the Stage 1 performance package for the 1970 model year, and one of 282 equipped with a 455ci V8 and a three-speed Turbo Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. The car is finished in Apollo White over black vinyl upholstery, and equipment includes a limited-slip differential with 3.64:1 gears as well as power steering, power-assisted front disc brakes, 15″ chrome five-spoke wheels, a front spoiler, a hood-mounted tachometer, a rear wing, and a Sonomatic AM radio.
The Stage 1 455ci V8 had a more aggressive camshaft and higher compression than the standard engine and was rated at 360 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque when new. The engine and transmission have been removed from the car and placed into storage in the 1970s and were reinstalled during the refurbishment. An oil change was performed in preparation for sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a three-speed Turbo Hydra-matic automatic transmission and a limited-slip rear differential with 3.61 gears.
Introduced to the Buick Gran Sport lineup in mid-1970, the GSX model featured a front spoiler, a rear wing, full-length side stripes, and a hood with a tachometer, dual air intakes, and wide black stripes. This example have been disassembled and repainted in its factory Apollo White (C) during the refurbishment. Additional equipment includes chrome bumpers and trim, a split front grille, quad headlights, body-color mirrors, and dual exhaust outlets.
Chrome 15″ five-spoke wheels wear Buick center caps and are mounted with reproduction G60-15 Goodyear Polyglas GT white-letter tires. A matching spare wheel and tire are stowed in the trunk. The car was delivered from the factory with power-assisted steering, and braking is handled by power-assisted vented front discs and finned rear drums.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in black vinyl with textured seat inserts as well as matching door panels and a color-coordinated headliner. Replacement carpets were installed during the refurbishment, and amenities include woodgrain trim, a Sonomatic AM radio, a center console, lap belts, and GSX interior badges.
The three-spoke steering wheel is mounted to a tilting column, and it frames a 120-mph speedometer flanked by a Rallye clock and a combination gauge monitoring fuel level, oil pressure, and engine temperature.
The five-digit odometer shows 33k miles, total mileage is unknown.
