This 2002 AM General M1123 HMMWV is a soft top example that was originally designed for use by the US military. It was acquired from Black Dog Customs following a five-month refurbishment. Work involved repainting the truck in black, fitting replacement seats, and replacing the Smart Start System (S3) starter box, grounding harness, batteries, glow plugs, and engine seals and gaskets. Power is provided by a 6.5-liter diesel V8 linked to a four-speed automatic transmission, a dual-range transfer case, and limited-slip front and rear differentials. Further equipment includes a Brenton Industries black vinyl soft top, LED headlights, 17″ Black Rhino wheels, a deep-water fording kit, a Friend or Foe (IFF) panel on the hood, and an airlift rear bumper with pintle and receiver hitches.
The 6.5-liter diesel V8 was factory rated at 170 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque. The engine have received replacement seals and gaskets as part of the refurbishment performed by Black Dog Customs. An inspection was performed in preparation for the sale.
Power is sent to all four wheels through a 4L80E four-speed automatic transmission, a dual-range transfer case, and limited-slip front and rear differentials. The rear differential seals were replaced in preparation for sale.
The High-Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) went into production for military use in 1984, and the later M1123 variant was used primarily by the United States Marine Corps. This example was refinished in black Chemical Agent Resistant Coating (CARC) during the aforementioned refurbishment. A replacement Brenton Industries black vinyl soft top, a rear-mounted antenna, lockable x-style doors, JW Speaker LED headlights, dual front towing shackles, a deep-water fording kit, a Friend or Foe (IFF) panel on the hood, and an airlift-style bumper with pintle and receiver hitches are additional exterior details.
Black-finished 17″ Armory wheels from Black Rhino wear Black Dog Customs center caps and are mounted with 37×12.5″ Toyo Open Country R/T tires. Stopping power is provided by inboard-mounted disc brakes, and the truck is equipped with independent suspension as well as helical gear-reduction hubs. Work in August 2024 included inspecting the spindle nuts.
The replacement front and rear folding bucket seats have been sourced from a Chrysler Pacifica and are upholstered in black leather. The seats feature integrated folding armrests, and the front units wear seatback storage bags with Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment (MOLLE) webbing. A custom steel center console is accompanied by a cellphone mount, a 24-volt to 12-volt accessory converter, a Bluetooth speaker, USB charging ports, and multi-color LED interior lighting. The cab have been lined with two layers of Noico heat and sound insulation, and the floors wear gray linings as well as black all-weather mats.
The three-spoke steering wheel is wrapped in black paracord and fronts replacement instrumentation including a 60-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges for oil pressure, fuel level, coolant temperature, and voltage.
The five-digit odometer shows 6k miles, and true mileage is unknown.
