This 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T coupe is finished in orange over white vinyl and is equipped with a replacement 440ci V8 fitted with three two-barrel carburetors. A three-speed automatic transmission directs power to a Sure Grip rear end with 4.10:1 gearing.
The car underwent a two-year refurbishment that was completed in 2007, with work including rust repair, an exterior repaint, an interior refresh, and rebuilds of the powertrain. The car was judged at the Carlisle All-Chrysler Nationals in July 2007, garnering a 92.0 score out of a possible 100 points.
The replacement 440ci V8 was rebuilt by Jim Oddy’s Automotive and features “Six Pack” induction with three two-barrel Holley carburetors.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a rebuilt three-speed automatic transmission linked to a rebuilt Sure Grip rear end equipped with 4.10:1 gearing.
A June 2010 dyno sheet shows peak output of 422 horsepower at 4,800 rpm and 524 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm.
The exterior was originally finished in Hemi Orange (EV2) and was repainted, the rear quarter panels and the trunk floor were replaced at the same time.
Features include dual hood scoops, hood pins, body-color exterior mirrors, white side stripes, and a matching vinyl roof.
Rallye wheels wear chrome beauty rings and are mounted with 15″ BFGoodrich white-letter tires.
The car has front disc brakes.
The interior is trimmed in replacement white vinyl upholstery over the front high-back bucket seats and the matching rear bench.
Additional features include a full-length center console, a woodgrain-rimmed steering wheel, a replacement headliner and carpeting, and Rallye instrumentation housed within a dash pad refurbished by Just Dashes.
